Wallpaper Engine allowed the embedded code in infected animated wallpapers to execute. Steam hosts the content. Steam should ensure it’s safe.

Oddly enough, the Kaspersky analysis found malware embedded in wallpapers. Stupid code is different from KEV’s. Sandboxing & scans using CISA’s KEV catalog are a good start.
