The giant rift wouldn't allow us to deploy gliders.

Got stuck in tracer pistols first person and couldn't switch guns, reload or move camera.

Why not just turn the difficulty down and play it how you want? Plus just give it time and use the new tools and you'll get used to it. Dashing in with shotgun is fun
