@kylegman3@CTVNews Nor the conservatives. Both have voted against it in the past. Unlikely they’ll switch it up now that it’s not working in their favour (as it could in the future)
@efloresmonsanto@CarymaRules@Nncim15 A police officer responding to what they believe is an individual about to incite mass violence who is being blocked by somebody filming them….
@JohnK30709255@CP24 The man who served as an Auxiliary member of TPS for six years volunteering his own time at no benefit to support the police force? Why would you even say such an ignorant thing?
@1AMdoesThings@jarmstrongbc@GlobalBC@CUrquhartGlobal Yup. Standard practice here. Common for people in Ottawa to be in traffic behind our Prime Minister.
That said, they use the lights to drive through intersections (so that cars yield and don’t cut up the motorcade) and occasionally when in really busy metropolitan areas.
@Marianne2024999@mobinfiltrator@GGCanada The answer to how is the Governor General’s Act which outlines the formula for how much pay goes up each year (calculated for inflation purposes)
@DJLougen@6ixbuzztv@Drake Unlikely given 51 division showed up to maintain public safety generally speaking. I think it’s reasonable to assume after day one his team hired Paid Duty officers to cover the site as their cars were parked there overnight. I hope they didn’t deploy regular resources for that.
@mobinfiltrator I had a law teacher who said the simplest way to strengthen police oversight was to make a website like the Ontario Teachers College. Search by name, find out any misconduct history, as well as have the ability for the independent ‘college’ to revoke their ‘licence’ to practice.
@YYC_drunkard@CityNewsTO There is a great CBC Fifth Estate documentary that covers everything that went down that day, including failures by the RCMP. You can find it on YouTube.
@JanetKrets@althiaraj@alexstubb@PierrePoilievre@MarkJCarney I’m simply stating Can Force One isn’t new, it’s standard for our head of state.
Yes, a jet was chartered before. The RCAF aircraft were not available at the time. Does not change the fact that they would have been used if available.
@JanetKrets@althiaraj@alexstubb@PierrePoilievre@MarkJCarney The Prime Minister has always flown on Can Force One. It does not matter who is in power, they are the head of our government. The leader of the opposition is a member of parliament with a special title. I would hope MP’s fly commercial.
@SirBottomtooth@Mattl8241@althiaraj@alexstubb You are correct that this does not include parking. It is worth noting that none of these other charges are a walk in the park either.
@SirBottomtooth@Mattl8241@althiaraj@alexstubb (The DND) “said catering costs “include the cost of food, non-alcoholic beverages, and associated fees, including catering handling and delivery, storage, cleaning and disposal of international waste, airport taxes, administrative fees, security charges, and local taxes.”
@larabankkks@CityNewsTO Lawsuits usually go for the biggest pockets. The controller who’s probably going to be out of a job won’t have the money Air Canada would and I don’t think suing the FAA as an organization would go anywhere.
@ProfessionaIYB @PopCrave It was a fire truck that was responding to an emergency that was declared for a different aircraft on the field. Not unusual for ground vehicles to be doing runway inspections and stuff too.
@CopeyMcSeethey@Breaking911 It was an ATC error. There was nothing the pilots could have realistically done (nor does that relate to race?) moving that fast beyond reportedly enabling reverse thrust as a last ditch effort. Heroes.
@Watchdog_MP Based on the tower audio it appears the ground controller cleared the truck to cross unaware that whoever does arrivals cleared the AC Jazz to land. Fatal mistake.
