On Thursday, we were updated that the City is doing everything they can open the last remaining stretch of the Community Path (behind the High School between School St & Medford) in time for the beginning of the school year this fall. No guarantees, but that’s the goal
🚧 Highland Ave detour is in full effect now, as sewer reconstruction progresses in front of the High School. Official detour shown in this image, and details available here https://t.co/aEE5jkPpQ8
Today, Reps. Uyterhoeven and Barber are joining with me to write to MassDOT Secretary Fiandaca, the MBTA Board, and GM Eng, expressing our concerns about a highway repair project that is causing a 42-day loss of transit service for Somerville's Environmental Justice communities.
Here’s a look from under the Squires Bridge in Somerville, where @MassDOT will spend 42 days this summer repairing those rusty steel beams. Green Line service to Union Square will be shut down starting July 18 because the power to the catenary lines must be turned off for safety during the repair work. Obviously, the public is in no position trust anything the @MBTA says, and so I will continue pushing for answers and appropriate accommodations and mitigation for our community as we continue to learn more about what is going on and as we assess the veracity of what we’ve been told.
New curbing installed on Everett Ave at Cross Street for the bump out and future raised crosswalk across Cross Street as part of our Pearl & 6 project.
