Africa Unity?
Only if it flows both ways.
Right now, it feels like a cruel illusion, a glittering slogan that demands South Africa bleed for the continent while the rest offer nothing but blame.

We’re branded xenophobic the moment we dare speak up about illegal immigration, collapsing borders, and public services pushed to breaking point. Yet the very nations whose citizens flood our streets have spectacularly failed their own people, leaving them without jobs, documents, safety, or hope.

True African Unity cannot mean South Africa becomes the dumping ground for every other country’s dysfunction, only to be shamed for simply enforcing our laws and protecting our citizens.

Unity isn’t charity. It’s not a one-way sacrifice where we carry the weight of the continent’s failures on our shoulders while being guilt-tripped into silence. Real unity demands reciprocity - shared responsibility, mutual respect, and African governments finally being held accountable to fix their own houses first.

Until then, “Africa Unity” rings hollow. It’s being weaponised to shut down honest questions about fairness, capacity, and survival.
If we want this dream to mean something powerful, it must begin with African leaders taking care of their own people — so South Africans are no longer expected to be the only ones paying the price for a unity that exists only in speeches.
