"What I wanted to say about this film is that... Life is a horrible nightmare. And the only escape you will ever have is to remain in this world beyond time." Lucio Fulci.
Consumer culture shapes our desires for signs, embedding ideology in the objects we consume. This is Baudrillard: consumption is a constant language of power shaping identity. Credit and marketing sustain endless consumption, masking reality with the illusion of self.
@SkinTrader2 Great sequel. It peters out after the Russian Gulag part but it's still fun. The 2nd half is like a B movie from the perspective of the Bond villain.
@305222B@leebowski1223 City of Angels isn't a masterpiece but it flows better than the original and has some astonishing visuals whereas the original is more derivative of Batman 89. I love that apocalyptic piss filter used to show L.A.
@studiotstella It reminds me of how in the 90's an Antonin Artaud biopicture was being floated around Hollywood. It would have starred Sylvester Stallone as Artaud...
@texhnolyzedfish Godard would have a meta moment half-way through this film where he talks to the camera and condemns Hollywood and the elite and call the audience stupid pigs who should have pirated the movie. Then the rest of the movie is just credits.
I've always considered writing the most hateful kind of work. I suspect it's a bit like fucking - which is fun only for amateurs. Old whores don't do much giggling.
