A day of whiplash at the @nato summit in Ankara:
-@potus says the war with Iran will not restart, after declaring the Iran ceasefire dead;
- participants tell me the closed door NAC Leaders meeting went very well, as @potus listened and expressed “love” in the room, but only after senior officials tell me his say Greenland comments will make a US-Denmark-Greenland deal less likely.

And there remains deep concern the US will coordinate with allies as NATO transitions to be more European.

The U.S. military says it launched a second day of attacks on Iran to degrade its ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump telegraphed these strikes earlier at the NATO summit in Ankara.

At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.

Today, more than 20 U.S. Navy warships are patrolling waters across the Middle East as CENTCOM forces continue promoting regional security and stability. Last month, U.S. naval warships and aircraft transited the Arabian Sea in close formation, demonstrating unmatched American military strength and firepower.

@POTUS: "Greenland is very important for the United States, but it's not important for Denmark. In fact, when Denmark was overrun by the Nazis in less than one day, Hitler beat them out in one day. They asked us to take care of Greenland. In fact, we took Greenland, and then stupidly we gave it back. We shouldn't have given it back to them, because we're the ones that need it. We need it for the protection of the world, not just the United States."

New U.S. strikes on Iran come against the backdrop of the NATO summit in Turkey, where leaders are hoping to strengthen Europe's ability to defend itself.

President Trump brought his long-standing criticism of European countries, once again expressing frustration over their defense spending and refusal to support the U.S. and Israeli war in Iran.

U.S. official tells me 6 U.S. aircraft attacked 4 Iranian targets: radar installations as well as missile and drone storage in Sirik, Iran.

A U.S. official confirmed to PBS News that Iran fired a drone that hit a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz, and traffic through the strait has largely stopped.

The strike came as Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Persian Gulf to try to reassure Arab allies that any agreement with Iran would protect their security.

#Syria's MOI says its completed receiving all naturalization applications from Kurds, per President al-Sharaa's Decree 13.

Beginning on June 14, applicants will begin receiving interview appointments to complete the process.

Applications have also been extended for expats.

Iran’s Mehr news agency publishes the purported text of the draft agreement with Trump. It will keep the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian control, will promise Iran $300 billion in reconstruction money in addition to an immediate cash transfer of $24 billion, a suspension of sanctions and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Middle East. Also, a commitment not to bother Iran again about its missiles and proxies, and restraining Israel in Lebanon.
The U.S. gets in exchange a pinky promise to respect the NPT.

Full text:

A permanent and immediate cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
A U.S. commitment not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and to respect the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Full lifting of the naval blockade within 30 days.
A U.S. commitment to withdraw its forces from areas surrounding Iran.
Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under arrangements determined by Iran.
Suspension of sanctions on the sale of oil, petrochemical products, and related derivatives, along with full Iranian access to the resulting financial revenues.
The United States and its allies would be required to present reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion.
A 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a final agreement covering nuclear issues and the complete removal of U.S. primary and secondary sanctions, as well as the repeal of relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors.
Reaffirmation by Iran of its commitment under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) not to produce nuclear weapons.
During the negotiation period, the United States would commit not to deploy additional forces to the region and not to impose any new sanctions.
The release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets during the 60-day final negotiation period. Half of this amount must be made available to Iran before negotiations begin.
Establishment of a monitoring mechanism to oversee implementation of the agreement.
The final agreement would be approved through a UN Security Council resolution.
Final negotiations would not begin before the release of half of Iran’s frozen assets, the suspension of oil sanctions, and the lifting of the naval blockade. The final agreement would focus exclusively on the future of enriched nuclear material and uranium enrichment, sanctions relief, and a program for rebuilding Iran’s economy. Discussion of Iran’s missile program and its support for resistance groups would be definitively excluded from the agenda.

As stated by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, this text still requires review and final approval by the relevant authorities in Iran.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces began launching self-defense strikes against Iran at 5 p.m. ET today at the Commander in Chief’s direction, in response to yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter. The mission is a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.
