One highlight of my summer with Emerald Youth happened in learning lab- a time when kids work on academic skills in an effort prevent the backslide of urban youth. I was able to successfully teach long division to a couple of the older kids, after having to relearn it myself!

My overall favorite part of program was watching the students show their true personalities as they became more comfortable in their environment and with us.

I had so much fun teaching my kids about volcanoes and then letting them make their own in teams! I asked them to be mindful of how they pick their teams and instead of gravitating to their friends, several of my team leaders did exactly as I asked! I’m so proud of these kids.
