PRESIDENT TINUBU EXPRESSES JOY OVER THE RESCUE OF ORIIRE ABDUCTED CHILDREN AND TEACHERS, COMMENDS SECURITY AGENCIES
President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound joy at the successful rescue of the children and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, by the security forces.
President Tinubu praised the heroic efforts of the security agencies, especially the military, the DSS and the police, for working round the clock in the last 56 days to secure the release of the abducted children and their teachers without any collateral damage and for arresting eight of the abductors and neutralising others.
President Tinubu regretted the anguish that the children and their teachers, as well as members of their families and the entire nation, have experienced since the sad occurrence.
For cooperating with the Federal Government in all rescue efforts, President Tinubu commended the Oyo State Government and charged it to ensure adequate security around schools across the state.
"I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Orire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State today after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation that neutralised some of the terrorists that perpetrated the evil act and the arrest of eight of them.
"This successful military operation has ended the siege and standoff of over 50 days and has brought relief to the entire nation and the affected families in particular. On behalf of the country, I express my gratitude to the officers and men of our armed forces, the intelligence agencies and the police for the safe rescue of the children and their teachers.
"My government will get justice for these children and their teachers and for the family of Mr Oyedokun, who the terrorists gruesomely murdered.
"I must commend the government of Oyo State for working cooperatively with us in bringing this unfortunate incident to a successful end," the President said.
President Tinubu has also directed that the emergency agencies work with the Oyo State Government to provide all necessary medical and relief support to the children and the teachers.

Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Presidential Panel yesterday evening in Kigali, I re-emphasised that Africa must put Africa first whilst creating opportunities for intra-Africa collaboration between our countries.
Our continent cannot build scale by looking outward first. We must invest in one another, trade more with one another, build the corridors that connect our markets, ensure our innovative youthful population get the support they need, and give African businesses the confidence to expand across African borders.
Nigeria’s reforms are not only about fixing yesterday. They are about preparing our economy to lead in the Africa of tomorrow. With AfCFTA, digital trade, shared infrastructure, stronger logistics, commodities exchange, and deeper private sector partnerships, we can turn Africa’s population and resources into real continental prosperity. The global risk and financial architecture must also give Africa a fair deal that recognises our local nuances and contexts.
I thank my brother, President Paul Kagame, for his warm hospitality and for Rwanda’s continued leadership in showing what discipline, clarity and execution can do for development.
Nigeria will continue to work with Rwanda and other African partners to build a continent that produces more, trades more, connects better, and competes with greater confidence in the world.
Africa’s future will not be handed to us. We must build it, own it, and defend it together.

Rebuilding and restructuring a behemoth like First Holdco Plc will come with a lot of disruptions including both pleasant and unpleasant surprises. We must pull things apart, remove old faulty foundations and build a new experience for all our stakeholders. This is our current reality at FirstHoldco Plc but surely a new beginning here for all of us!!
A new beginning that guarantees corporate sustainability and longevity fueled by the tenacity of purpose and veracity of vision supported by our core pillars of Transparency, Accountability, and Long Term Value for all stakeholders.
I remain grounded in our pursuit to build a world class financial institution without distractions whilst my commitment to continue to invest my all; financial and otherwise, remains unflinching 💪🏾🐘… F.Ote💲
At First HoldCo we decided to clean house properly. We took a huge one time hit of ₦748bn to admit old bad loans instead of pretending they do not exist. That is why profit looks like it crashed by 92%. Painful headline, but it is a serious long term move.
My fellow Nigerians,
You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home.
Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.
I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.
I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.
Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.

President & Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty.
Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions.
The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians.
Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it.
Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths.
Our administration is committed to working with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths.

LASBCA Reacts to Viral Video on Removal of Illegal Attachment in Eti-Osa
The attention of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has been drawn to a misleading video circulating online regarding the removal of an illegal attachment to a building by their owners at
Let’s stick to the facts. Nigeria doesn’t belong on this particular ‘queuing for IMF loan’ list.
Anyone who understands the economic history of Nigeria (the heated SAP debates of the 80s) will understand the context.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to boost local currency financing for Nigerian businesses, marking a key outcome alongside the IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings.
This partnership will enable the IFC to scale its naira-denominated investments across priority sectors of the Nigerian economy, including agriculture, housing, infrastructure, energy, small and medium enterprises, as well as the creative and youth economy.
Why did you omit the fact that Nigeria was blowing its reserves to defend the Naira and keep the pegged rate low. As of 2010, Emir Sanusi, the CBN governor, had begun to shout that it wasn't sustainable and the country was going to go bankrupt.
We had spent $28bn out of our foreign reserves to defend the Naira between 2007 and 2010. And we continued to defend it with billions of dollars until 2023.
During the period of oil boom, when other countries made money and invested in their country. We spent our oil boom receipt on FX subsidy. We wasted $28bn in 3 years. No roads, no rail, no electricity, no healthcare, no schools, no security. That's fine. Just keep the fx rate low so that people like you can travel.
Do you know what $28bn could have achieved in 2010?
- 20 lagos Blue Line rail
- 14 Lagos Ibadan rail line across the country
- 3 Dangote Refineries
- 5 Lagos calabar coastal highway
- 20 Lekki deep sea port at $1.5bn each
- 20 Lagos Ibadan expressway at $1bn each
- 5 NLNG gas trains
Some of this money was borrowed, and some we had to sell oil in advance. You can't do abracadabra with fx rates. If you fix it at a price, you must defend it. You either defend it with your reserves or borrow to defend it. The FG has been defending the Naira since 1980.
Estimates suggest that we had spent $150bn to defend the Naira in 20 years ( 2002 - 2022 ). Don't ask for development or infrastructure. You have eaten it, go and collect your development from CBN and BDCs.
