@DougDog_@SoilOfHarvest@EnigmaGamingX While few would attack us directly, there are a large number of states that intend on harm our allies or our interests. For example, in a world where the US military had the same capacity as the British military, I think Taiwan would already have been invaded.
@DougDog_@SoilOfHarvest@EnigmaGamingX I find it strange to attribute our ability to wage war to the petrodollar. It is a nice currency-stabilizing measure which creates demand for the USD, but I don't see how that nice bonus to our finances significantly impacts our capacity to wage war.
@DougDog_@AmBigSerge@EnigmaGamingX I'm glad that it is working out well for you then.
America's wealth is not unlimited though. Already there are questions about the United States' ability to pay off its obligations as evidenced by the current bond rates. Finding the right place to cut spending is difficult.
@DougDog_@AmBigSerge@EnigmaGamingX I will concede that the USA has engaged in unjust wars in the past, and I agree that Meta, or any company interfering in foreign elections is despicable.
I also do not like Trump.
That does not mean that Americans should not fight to protect our values, allies, or interests.
@DougDog_@AmBigSerge@EnigmaGamingX Racism and homophobia are speech. If you want a society where people are allowed to speak their minds, you have to allow even immoral or unpopular things to be said.
