Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.
It is about developing a sense of strength and flexibility to withstand hardships. It’s also about using those experiences to grow into a better person.
Your resilience comes into play and sees you through no matter how tough and difficult it gets.
People with strong resilience are more confident, self-reliant, and secure. Despite all the challenges in life, no one can take away your spirit. And that’s what makes you resilient.
This trait, which has become somewhat synonymous with Nigerians has been coined in a way that once you see or hear the #PowerofNaija or the #SpiritofNaija buzzword, you know they are talking about the resilient nature of Nigerians the world over.
This resilience helps you push through different shades of struggles and difficulties in life both home and abroad that is why most Nigerians excel in wherever they find themselves in whatever condition.
Hilda Bassey Effiong, a Nigerian Chef popularly know as Hilda Baci, just conquered the world by not just smashing the @GWR for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, she went on to set her own record of over 100 hours of carrying out the task.
She had five minute breaks every hour and a one-hour rest after 12 hours for medical checks, washing and resting. This is a perfect example of resilience and the Nigerian Spirit.
We celebrate and salute not just Hilda but also her assistant Chef Sunday Okwe for standing by Hilda and giving her the moral, emotional, psychological and physical support she needed to accomplish her set objective. Not all super heroes wear capes and Chef Sunny was the real super hero in the cook-a-thon.
Thank you @hildabacicooks and chef sunny for showing us the meaning of resilience and most importantly for putting Nigeria once again on the global map.
