Grown men refusing to get jobs or picking up a trade, because they’re embarrassed and don’t want to look like they “fell off”. They’d rather use their last to keep up with an image nobody cares about….that “scammer to legit civilian” pipeline is really sad to see.
Former NFL star Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson says he saved 83% of his $48,000,000 career earnings by wearing $10 fake jewelry from Claire's and flying Spirit Airlines.
Johnson says he was so focused early in his career that he lived at the Bengals' facility for his first two seasons.
> “Everything I need is right here.”
When teammates told him to buy expensive watches and jewelry...
He couldn't understand why.
> “What's the point?”
Instead of buying diamonds...
> “I went to Claire's. Who buy real diamonds when nobody’s gonna check ’em anyway?”
He says his name was already worth more than anything money could buy.
> “There's nothing I can buy that's bigger than my name.”
He also never understood spending tens of thousands on luxury watches.
> “What time is it?”
> “Time is free.”
Looking back, Johnson says that mindset is why he still has most of the money he earned.
> “I done saved 80–83% of my salary.”
