Survived their early years without a car. Walked to work, shopped local. Recycling was a must do to make ends meet, not a fashionable fad.
Could knit, sew, and do household repairs.
Cooked proper meals and didn't use fast food.
Too proud to claim benefit, it was seen as an embarrassment.
Did their own babysitting,
Saved and avoided debt generally. Bother to vote.
Lend their families money, hope to leave them something when they die...
