The great #SamMoore has left us. Amazing in so many ways - among the most impressive, he was the original Soul Man! Here’s our visit with him as Soul Man was made part of the collection at the Library of Congress.

I am compelled to take a brief pause from our emergency response to the catastrophic fires in Los Angeles to pay homage to the memory of my dear friend Sam Moore. Sam, the original Soul Man, will be remembered for his exceptional humanity, remarkable talent, and generous spirit. We are grateful for the gift of his life. It was my highest honor to induct Sam into the alumni hall of fame and reciprocally be inducted as an honorary Soul man by Sam himself. My thoughts are with Sam's cherished partner and wife Joyce. With love and appreciation. #sammoore.

In mid 2014 Sam Moore crossed into the world of bluegrass.
I took that as an opportunity to collect his wisdom on Steve Martin's Unreal Bluegrass.
Before we started I told him to forgive me but I'd have to talk about Sam and Dave as well as his Bluegrass song.
So we did.
Live on the air.
These are the moments I cherish.
The interview portion of that show is on the Archive of my website https://t.co/7yknt5PdsH under M .
I was beyond excited.
When we finished I called a friend to tell him I had just been talking to THE Soul Man.
Legend.
Thanks Sam Moore.
Rest well.

What a loss - Sam Moore of the duo Sam & Dave. An honor to intv. you for #SoundcheckNJPBS in 2023 at the American Music Honors @BruceArchives - an icon who didn't know he was one - as you'll see in the clip. But, we thank you, for all your contributions to music. @MyNJPBS
