A marriage built on the Rock will stand. But a marriage built on lust, greed, selfishness, and deception will eventually crumble. What you build your marriage on matters.
in order to become a better person, you must first realize how horrible you really are. not in the dramatic sense, but in the quiet ways you sabotage yourself, repeat unhealthy patterns, hurt people who care about you, or tolerate what wounds you. you cannot grow if you keep pretending you’re innocent in the story you’ve created.
You know why marriages used to work and they don't now? 25 years ago we weren't texting our exes at 2am.
We weren't sending sxy selfies to friends of the opposite sx. We weren't texting 50 people in our phone instead of cuddling on the couch with our partner. We didn't have our next "option" lined up the second something didn't go EXACTLY the way we wanted in our relationship.
We worked on problems and communicated with our partners instead of posting about issues on social media so everyone could put their two cents in. You want things to work? Stop making your partner compete for your love.
Even in nature
there are seasons of growth
and of dormancy;
however,
over time
if we're growing our résumé, CV, craft, career, business, accounts, portfolio, library, collection, garden, passport stamps, physical house…
but are not developing internally,
we need to ask…why.
