@TheAfrocentricI Cathy fr needs to do so much more. Meghan’s report says “a call was offered”? Still absolutely loathe Cathy. Per usual, she’s never proactive and only reactive. And with a predictable pr statement. https://t.co/qyw758EuuG
A person with knowledge of the situation shared with USA TODAY Englebert reached out to Thomas last week.
The person says texts were exchanged, and Englebert offered a call.
She also asked league security to connect with the Mercury after hearing about the threats.
@ejrsuperstar@flint_ashley@ericaf455@kate_martin22@CaitlinClark22 Exactly. Asking in person doesn’t mean they haven’t already talked. people wanting to create mess based on almost no info is exhausting.
Could just as easily speculate that she’s asking because she received treatment yesterday and she’s wondering if she feels better after that.
@dstark86 Begging people to actually read the full article. It’s one of the few good nuanced works lately. If you’re just rt’ing based on this (well written) ss, you’re not getting the whole thing.
@StephsCart@jjocon21@lifewithkeerose Oh brother 😭 it wasn’t an assault. I might be a Fever fan, but I’m not a loon.
And fan pressure has generally done nothing to the W, both in recent and further history.
@StephsCart@jjocon21@lifewithkeerose Hard disagree on that. The league has a rule book. This wasn’t “democracy in action” cause the W isn’t a cheerocracy. If it was a cheerocracy, they’d have rescinded Clark’s tech if it was about Clark stans, lol. Go fan vote if you want a say.
@maestroxv_@lifewithkeerose I get what you’re saying for sure, and I’ve seen a lot of people bring this one up. This was an even collision impact, no? More similar to Gabby and Lexie and that tough head-to-head impact?
@maestroxv_@lifewithkeerose I don’t think much of the league office, but I know people think that. the rule book actually dictates how this one went. I don’t think the W has a lot of leeway on that. F2 during a game is an ejection. F2 assessed after the fact is a 1-game suspension.
@jjocon21@lifewithkeerose Of course they did. As all teams would. What we are saying is, there is an external pressure element to this - not sure if it mattered or not, but it’s hard to ignore.
Regardless, they assessed it, now people can move on.
@lifewithkeerose I really only thought it might come to a f1 myself. But yeah, this is now what the third or fourth time the league had taken a look at a play or investigated something cause of socials. Gotta be weird to navigate.
@trendyhoopstars Only reason it’s a suspension is cause the flagrant 2 was assessed after the game. If it had been assessed in game, it’d be an ejection, and no suspension.
@erikaleaday@indianasports14 Yep. Problem is, player with one of biggest media microscopes has been at the center of multiple hard foul no-calls. (Not saying that’s unique). Big audience growth + clickbait culture + media focus on her inflates the reaction, and everyone picks a narrative to run with. Hate it
@Drizzle8481@WNBA_SuperHater Gene Wilder wasn’t joking when he delivered that line, lol. He was mad as hell. I do know the reference though.
And Nah. That’s not my wish at all. Just thought I’d was a wild no-call.
@erikaleaday@indianasports14 Agreed. People (especially ones that don’t even watch) love to insert narratives with and per usual, from all sides, they’re nuts.
Want all the players to be able to hoop and have better expectations of consistent reffing. Which, as you know has been a problem for a while.
@Drizzle8481@WNBA_SuperHater Said “good day” and came back with two more paragraphs?
What’s funny, is if you notice, I’m not one of the nuts calling for anyone’s head or saying there was malicious intent. I’m on the same page -simply want games called evenly, and thought this being a no-call, was not okay.
