Visuals: Missed Flight Turns Into Airport Security Breach at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport
Two passengers who reportedly arrived late for their Aeroflot flight at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport took matters into their own hands on July 25, running onto the airport apron in an attempt to catch the plane.
The women reportedly approached an Aeroflot aircraft that was already being towed, forcing the operation to stop for safety reasons. One of the passengers was seen dragging a suitcase behind her as they approached the aircraft.
Ground personnel and police quickly intervened, escorted the passengers away from the apron and prevented them from boarding.
The incident highlights a critical aviation safety rule: airport aprons and movement areas are restricted zones, and unauthorized access can create serious risks involving aircraft towing, ground vehicles, jet engines and other ramp operations.
Missing a flight can be frustrating—but running onto an active aircraft movement area is never a safe option. Airport security procedures exist to protect passengers, crew, ground staff and aircraft.
