Established in 1960 in the heart of Old Strathcona, we have the honour of serving families during what may be their greatest time of need. 780-432-1601
“These plaques represent the human remains of soldiers who died for our freedom.”
Edmonton police need your help locating World War One memorial plaques stolen from Edmonton Cemetery. Known to collectors as death pennies or dead man pennies, the plaques have little monetary value but are of great historical significance.
The plaques were given to the families of soldiers whose bodies could not be returned to Canada after the war. Police believe collectors may have purchased the plaques online, not knowing they were stolen.
Police want to return the plaques to the soldiers’ families. If you have any information or have purchased a plaque yourself, please contact Crime Stoppers or call the EPS non-emergency line at 780-423-4567.

Yesterday at our staff gift exchange, Senior Funeral Director, Kristie, received her 25 year service award. Congratulations Kristie and thank you for all your service to families in need over the years.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them…

Happy Mother's Day to the moms whose hands we still hold & to those that live on in our hearts…

Last night, we hosted our annual candlelight memorial. A well received service with the message that it’s ok to still be sad and to grieve during this time of year. Provided those in attendance with a lantern ornament with the words: “Your light will always shine in our hearts.”
Wow. Thanks so much for everyone’s assistance. We now have a tech coming to look at our system this afternoon. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.
#yeg always comes through. 🙏

Hoping someone can help. Our A/V system has gone down all of a sudden and we can’t get any local a/v companies to even give us a call back. We have services coming up and need this system operational. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

When I started working in the newspaper industry, almost 20 years ago, I worked on the obituary desk at the Edmonton Journal. The folks at South Side Memorial Chapel are the best. If you’re down at the Fringe tomorrow or Thursday, pop in and say hi!
We will once again be hosting an open house and funeral home tour this Wed and Thurs, August 23 & 24, beginning each day at 3:00pm. We are directly west of the Fringe grounds. A great time to meet the directors and see the building…before you have to.
