NEW: The corporatized egg production model is exacerbating avian flu outbreaks, contradicting USDA's plan to keep bailing out the largest corporations.
Here are our takeaways from USDA's new egg prices report.🧵
When Elon Musk shuttered US AID, his ally, Mike Davis asked “how many real Americans in real America felt the pain? Zero?” I guess the thousands of US farmers who sell their food to AID are not 'real Americans'.
@RyneJones7@richmomz@mouthy_mom_ If we are using that to enforce a peace, then that is effectively a security guarantee. That said to set up a mine for rare earth minerals is a long process and wouldn't be done until long after the Trump admin. at which point its peacekeeping effect will be worthless
Reminder that @elonmusk makes:
OVER $1,000 a SECOND
OVER $84,000 a MINUTE
OVER $5,000,000 an HOUR
OVER $120,000,000 a DAY
OVER $840,000,000 a WEEK
OVER $3,600,000,000 a MONTH
OVER $40,320,000,000 a YEAR
But he’s still gonna take your Medicaid & Social Security bc he wants more.
@richmomz@mouthy_mom_ It's almost like leverage or security guarantees are needed to enforce a ceasefire. Otherwise, what stops the larger power from ignoring them? Also, every indication still shows that Zelenskyy was still going to sign the deal, that just wasn't Trump's actual goal
@amy_oberkirsch @RapidResponse47 Sure, but we export grains and oilseeds. 20% of all our agriculture products are exported, which in 2023 was worth almost $180 billion. Unless we start eating a ton of corn and soy, retaliatory tariffs will significantly harm at least 1/5 farmers
Just a reminder: when we tried tarrifs during the great depression it actually made the economy worse and hit farmers the hardest. Crops literally rotted in the field because we couldn't sell them abroad following retaliatory tarrifs
@Blake87936322@CREWcrew Even if they were politically motivated, the majority of the prosecutors were low level and just had the cases put on their desk. They had no personal investment in them other than doing their job as expected by US law
@hawkman555@CREWcrew There is literally no section in Article II that grants him that power. In fact Sections 8 and 9 of Article I would imply that it's actually a power of Congress in most cases. SCOTUS has ruled consistently that civil service members may only be fired with just cause, not at will
@the_coolwayne @MrSausageGet Raskin said if he had the votes, he would start writing the documents, but unless 3 Republicans suddenly chose to flip, any attempt at impeachment would die before any debate could even start
The urban elites have been draining funding out of the rural education system as a means to consolidate power in their own hands. We know our education is our power, and we will take it back!

Kids are dying of measles. Egg prices are skyrocketing. Bird flu is out of control. Planes are falling out of the sky. Inflation is rising. Tariffs are coming. Consumer confidence is collapsing. A recession is now likely. The stock market is dropping.
Donald Trump is golfing.
@SAVoltolin I don't entirely disagree at face value, but eventually, you run into the issue of who actually distributes said tomatoes. That consolidates immense power in said persons hands, be it the capitalist selling or politicians/government leveraging it. Socialism assumes good faith
@bigzee_001@elonmusk Half of the country has fled, large portions of those remaining are displaced or on the front lines. But yea, let's send them to their local polling place, I'm sure they will show up to vote...
@AesPolitics1 His mineral deal makes no sense. It takes years to set up rare earth metal mines, so they likely won't be done in his term. And that's assuming they are there. We are relying on poor Soviet data. If it were really about the metals, we would be investing in Chile or Africa
We have always wanted to attract foreign investors and innovation. But once they come to America, they are the same as the refugee, the working man, the farmer. Creating a "Gold Card" creates levels of "American-ness" based solely on wealth. This is a dangerous road to follow!
@endlibtyranny@WhiteHouse The author spoke between 4-8 languages, the first president born under the Constitution spoke Dutch in the White House, almost half our presidents have been multilingual, and the First Amendment granted freedom of expression regardless of language. Don't celebrate monoligualism
