Grateful for an inspiring weekend at #ECEC2024 in Banff with my incredible kindergarten team! Rejuvenated, connected, and filled with new learning to bring back to our little ones! @ECEC_ATA
We tried “Number Knockout” this week and it was a great way to practice comparing numbers, subitizing and counting on. Take turns rolling the dice and scratch out on the number line (we scratched out #1 before starting). Rolling on a plate helped to avoid dice everywhere! #rvsed
This book is amazing! My students loved the descriptive language and reproducing the sounds of snow themselves. We followed it up with our own Winter walk. A highlight was definitely some noisy squirrels playing on someone’s garage! @kenardpak#rvsed
This pumpkin was donated from by a student from their garden at the end of September. We’ve watched it turn from green (in the science table) to almost fully orange! (This was very exciting for Mrs. Southwick, too!) 😂
We practiced printing our names with an uppercase letter followed by lowercase letters in a very fun and messy way! We used the apples from a students farm to try “apple and spoon” races outside. Working on waiting for a turn, spatial awareness and balance and coordination.
Exploring our community and learning about where food comes from and food groups with a dietician at Save On Foods Cochrane. We were even lucky enough to arrive during morning delivery and got to go inside the semi truck! @saveonfoods
Today we wrapped up “My Community”! We learned about groups and clubs we belong to, how to be safe and read signs, had a visit from some community helpers: a firefighter, police officer and a dental hygienist, and made our own community maps, with our houses and us! #rvsed
These students were so proud of how their Valentine’s wreaths turned out! Everyone pained their own paper for the hearts, and we talked about how each one is unique, just like our own hearts! #rvsed
Our Kindies had the honor of visiting Camp Read-A-Lot with the grade 2s to kick off “I Love To Read” month. It was so fun! Although I think the flashlight disco dance party might’ve been one of their favourite parts… #rvsed
One of my favourite books to use anytime is Frida and Bear Play the Shape Game. The characters take turns drawing a shape then the other turns it into a picture. This leads to an imaginative activity that sparks creativity and collaboration! #rvsed
Letters from all over Alberta have trickled in after the holidays. Each time we open one, we find the town on the map, and enjoy learning about each class (and that we have lots in common!). If you and a PreK-grade 1 class and would like to join next near! #community#rvsed
We made “Missing” posters to help locate the Gingerbread Man Loose in the School! I love the names that the students came up with for their missing cookie! #rvsed
