@SEC_StatCat Interested to see what improvement there is with a full offseason with the same OC and offense, Ik that’s not your focus when charting but the optimistic fan in me can’t help but start daydreaming. Thanks for the response statcat!
On to the 1895 season: Ed Mellinger
Ed was captain this season and helped lead the cyclones to a big win over Iowa, 24-0. Anytime a player helps us beat Iowa, automatically goes to a top contender on best cyclone of the year🤷♂️
This was also, Pop Warners first year at head coach.
Starting this thread back up with the 1894 Cyclone team (Due to lack of data, I have no favorite clones from 1893)
My fav clone from this year would be William M. Beardshear, who finally organized an athletics department to officially sanction Football, among other sports.

Since football is over, let’s take a look at the best/my favorite Cyclone from every season that’s been played at Iowa State.
1892 Season (Iowa Agricultural Cardinals): Ira C. Brownlie
He was both the head coach and the captain of the inaugural football team.
If these plans are even 80% close to what the final result of CyTown, I am very excited.
The economic and social impact that these could possibly bring is something never before seen on this scale in a place like Ames.
Great things coming for the clones!
