I have received the report of a case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging in Osun State for stealing a fowl. Consequently, I have directed the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Osun State to commence full investigation into the matter and initiate processes to grant prerogative of mercy to the young man.
Osun is a land of justice and equity and must ensure fairness and protection of the sanctity of lives. I assure members of the public that this matter is receiving my direct attention with every sense of urgency also attached to our response to the matter.
Dear Governor Adeleke, thank you for your interest in this matter. It is appalling that a Judge/Magistrate could give such ruling on such offence.
However, it will be appreciated if you could go extra mile by recommending to the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate the magistrate/Judge who pronounced such verdict and also review all concluded cases in his/her name.
Some people may have been killed or languishing in jail for some mere trivial offences.
Public service workers in Osun state welcome Governor Ademola Adeleke at the entrance of the state government secretariat in an appreciation rally for his pro-labour policies and programs and his approval for the N75,000 civil servant and N25,000 for the pensioners on the
Osun State pensioners are not left out of the improved welfare package. I have also approved an enhanced pension package of twenty-five thousand Naira (โฆ25,000.00) across the board for all pensioners in the state.
Sequel to the earlier announced new minimum wage for public workers in Osun State, I am elated to announce 1st of December, 2024, as the date for the implementation of the payment of N75,554.28 to all categories of workers, including local government employees across the State. This includes payment of one month arrears to all public servants in the State.
Additionally, a sum of N25,000 has been approved as an improved pension package across board for all pensioners in the state. This is in consideration of the plight of our senior citizens in this current economic situation.

During the weekend, three highway fire incidents were reported in three states across the country, namely Niger, Oyo, and Lagos.
While the incidents in Niger and Lagos were said to have reportedly claimed 48 and 3 lives respectively, the one in Ibadan left so much destruction in its trail.
All three were caused by articulated vehicles carrying petrol across different locations in the country.
I condole with all the affected families and affiliated trade unions whose members and assets may have been victims of these incidents.
I also sympathize with farmers and other travellers who constitute major victims of the incident in Niger State.
I similarly show appreciation to the officers of the Fire Service in all three states for their brave efforts in rescue and control operations.
My condolences to those who may have lost loved ones and property to the incidents, and I pray that the deceased victims meet eternal mercy. -AA
