The Accounts & Audit Module on the UMEED Central Portal was launched today by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs.
The module provides a structured digital system for recording and managing financial transactions of Waqf institutions by capturing details of income and expenditure. It also enables automated calculation and payment of statutory contributions to the respective State Waqf Boards through the portal.
This initiative will enhance transparency, strengthen financial governance, ensure proper maintenance of accounts, and enable effective monitoring of Waqf institutions. It will also support timely collection of funds meant for the welfare of the poor, women and orphans, while improving overall oversight in the administration of Waqf properties.

The Cabinet decision on Jal Jeevan Mission marks a major step towards ensuring sustainable and reliable tap water supply for rural households across India. It shifts the focus from only infrastructure creation to citizen-centric service delivery supported by strong local governance and digital monitoring. The Ministry of Minority Affairs wishes to highlight the factual position regarding waqf property documentation and the progress achieved under the UMEED framework, in the context of a recent report published by ThePrint. The Ministry also notes with appreciation the strong support extended by State Waqf Boards across the country, which have been cooperating with great zeal and commitment in implementing the provisions of the Act.
Under the UMEED Act, 2025, six months’ time was provided from the launch of the UMEED Central Portal on 06.06.2025 to upload details of waqf properties and properties dedicated to waqf. This period concluded on 06.12.2025.
The Act itself provides a remedy — Waqf Tribunals, upon being satisfied, may grant up to six months’ extension. Accordingly, 17 States/UTs have been granted extensions of 2–6 months from Feb 2026 onwards, strictly as per law.
As on 02.03.2026 (UMEED Portal data):
* 6,29,527 properties initiated
* 2,87,695 validated & approved
* 38,083 rejected after verification
