Canada and the United States have been close collaborators in space exploration for over six decades. I was happy to highlight this important relation at the Canada-US Summit today.
First stop in Canada for CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen: Ottawa! Jeremy attended the swearing-in of the new Governor General, met with Members of Parliament and talked about Artemis II with colleagues from the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Coming soon: one of history’s most complex missions
Tune in on Tuesday, June 9, at 11am ET, to meet the astronauts flying aboard Artemis III, the mission that will test docking capabilities with commercial landers in low Earth orbit — an important step to crewed lunar landings.
For World Environment Day, let’s turn our eyes to space. 🌎🛰️

#MoonJoy was in full effect during the #ArtemisII crew’s visit to Canada this week. 🌕🇨🇦
What stood out most wasn’t just the mission, but the humanity and camaraderie behind it. Big, ambitious goals are achieved through teamwork, humility, and taking care of one another every step of the way.
Thank you to @spacecanada and the @csa_asc for hosting such an inspiring event last evening with some of this generation’s greatest heroes. @Astro_Jeremy@astro_reid@Astro_Christina@Astro_Jenni@AstroVicGlover
Today, we’re focusing on the future of Canada’s space sector! The CSA is hosting @spacecanada's #Horizons2026, a conference that will bring together industry government and academic representatives for a day of exchange, innovation, and collaboration.
We are supporting research in space astronomy, planetary exploration and lunar exploration. Eligible teams can apply by August 21 for funding to drive their research and train the next generation.

Every time I look up at the Moon now, even the one at Space Center Houston, it feels different.
It’s no longer just a distant light in the night sky — it’s a place I’ve studied up close with my own eyes. I find myself tracing its features, recognizing the shadows, the craters, the quiet stories written across its surface.
The Moon hasn’t changed, but now when I observe it, it comes back to life in my mind with a new and treasured perspective.
We are honoured to be named the winner of the Aqualunar Challenge. Thank you to the @csa_asc and @Astro_Jeremy for this announcement. It is a testament to the hardworking and dedication of the CSMC team to deliver key capabilities for Canada and its allies that build the foundational building blocks of our presence on the moon and beyond.
"We launched as friends, and we came back as best friends."
