This exceptional Liverpool team has raised the bar to levels never previously seen before in the history of football.
Between Feb 27 '19 & Feb 24 '20 our record from 38 games was:
W36 D2 L0 - 110pts from 114 in a rolling season.
This level of consistency will never be beaten.
@Saka_army247 You say since 1998 no winners have reached the final in the following tournament, but then acknowledge France did exactly that in 2022.
So if you're going to include them, why only go back to 1998?
Brazil won in 1994 and reached the final in 1998.
Likewise Argentina in 1990.
@VeritusFootball Yeah I've read it, I understand it, but I just don't agree with it.
If we went back to that era when teams like Germany, Argentina, Italy were hosting all the time - then we'd still probably see the hosts win quite often.
The other factors you mentioned have less relevance.
@Maps_Welsh Where do you even start with nonsense like this?
So much bullshit in just one post.
Let's just say if City last season had been anything like the City that Klopp faced, they'd have got 95-100 points & Arsenal wouldn't have had a sniff of the title.
They got lucky, that's all.
@emekamadi171@AnythingArs_ It's a glorified friendly, that's all.
In the old days they would literally share it for 6 months each if it was a draw.
That should tell you everything about how serious it is.
What proper trophy ever gets shared? 😂
Embarrassing small club mentality to count it as a trophy.
@VeritusFootball No, you said it was a superpower that's dying - due to a whole range of invented reasons.
But in reality it's more to do with who the hosts are.
The ones that won it were big teams.
These days they share the WC around the other continents more and the lesser teams.
That's it.
@JPeezy808 All those top European teams are also in the WC - but with the likes of Brazil, Argentina & others added too.
Plus you're often playing in a different continent, like this time.
It can't be harder to win the Euros.
A European team is guaranteed to win that, unlike with the WC.
@VeritusFootball Yeah, but it's not like hosting is a guarantee you'll win.
France didn't win it in 1938.
Brazil didn't win it in 1950.
Hosting just gives you a better chance of winning, that's all.
