Apollo 15 Transposition and Docking
Soon after the Translunar injection burn. The Apollo 15 crew captured this great photo of the Lunar Module housed inside the S-IVB stage as they prepare to dock and then pull it free.

Sad news. Jerry Bostick, one of the greats of Apollo-era Mission Control has passed away. He was enormously helpful to our Mission Control film. A warm and generous soul and a great American. Love and blessings to his family and friends.

Thanks to all who reached out to our dad Buzz this holiday season. We shared a wonderful Christmas together. We look forward to having him closer to us in a beautiful new home with panoramic views of the city and ocean. Wishing you all a Happy New Year —Jan & Andy Aldrin
Have you heard the news that Texas' senators want to chop up NASA's retired space shuttle Discovery in order to move it from the Smithsonian to Houston? The lawmakers in question have, and are now crying foul to the Justice Department.
Rusty Schweickart turns 90 today. Selected in the 3rd
NASA astronaut group (1963), he completed support roles in Gemini, flew as LMP on Apollo 9 (10 days) in 1969 (becoming the first Apollo astronaut to perform an EVA) & served as BUp Cdr Skylab 2 in 1973 before retiring in 1977.
A prototype of Skylab's ATM, the Thermal Systems Unit (ATM TSU), was flown from MSFC to MSC OTD in 1971. A programme of 14 tests, in MSC's Building 32 Space Environment Simulation Laboratory, through December, verified the thermal design before building the flight unit.
The opening day of Apollo Remastered — ‘Gemini and Mercury’ exhibition at the Jodrell Bank whose radio telescope famously tracked Apollo 11 all the way to the Moon! Stunning work by the very talented @AndySaunders_1 If you get the chance I recommend you go and check it out.

Here's the contents - a similar arrangement to #ApolloRemastered. Starting with Mercury MR-3 & covering every mission through to Gemini XII. Extra chapters cover the cameras / eqpmnt, their use & the processing:
If you've any interest in trying to understand why I've spent the many thousands of hours on these projects, and what Gemini & Mercury Remastered is all about, this brilliant video from @newscientist tells you everything:

TODAY! 🚀In 1971, Apollo 15 landed in the most spectacular location.
Incredibly, from lunar orbit, Al Worden captured the rover and LM on the lunar surface, in which his crewmates were sleeping.
Now enhanced, it gives us a great perspective of the Hadley-Apennine landing site:
