Blocking a tax on windfall profits doesn’t protect consumers. It protects the companies making record money while drivers continue paying more at the pump.

people are now saying that it was the generals that were stealing money in the Fedorov reforms.. that is not the case.

Here is what the record actually shows. The corruption Fedorov described at his July 16 briefing was inside his own agency, the civilian procurement side of the Ministry of Defence, not the military. Department heads appointed by private contractors. Meetings that required law enforcement present before anyone would sit down. Markup proposals of 200 to 300 percent on contracts for companies owned by people who do not even live in Ukraine. That is a civilian bureaucracy problem, not a generals-getting-rich problem. The people saying the military leadership was skimming ammunition contracts have it backwards. The military was downstream of the corruption, not running it. The soldiers at the front were the ones not getting the rounds. And here is the part nobody wants to say out loud: some of the competitive bidding reforms Fedorov was pushing, the tender procedures, the multi-supplier evaluations, the starting price mechanisms, those take time. Months. Units in contact do not have months. There is a real tension between building a clean procurement system and getting ammunition to people who need it this week, and Fedorov never fully resolved it.

the artillery shell contract that saved 16% does not kick in until the middle of 2027. it takes MONTHS to do a bidding competition. you really cant do that much in wartime.
