It was a privilege for us to be hosted on Salaam TV to discuss the importance of the Uganda Migrant Workers Insurance Scheme and its role in protecting Ugandans working abroad. During the program, we had the opportunity to educate migrant workers and viewers on: -The benefits of the scheme. -How to apply for the insurance cover. -Why every Ugandan travelling abroad should secure this protection before departure. As more Ugandans seek opportunities overseas, it is important to ensure they travel with the right protection and peace of mind for themselves and their families. Yesterday, at Africana Hotel, we were privileged to be among the invited guests at the 2nd IBAU Insurance Kimeeza. The discussions centered on the future of Uganda’s insurance industry and the vital role brokers play in driving its growth. One of the key issues raised was that, while insurance penetration in many countries has grown alongside GDP, Uganda still lags behind. This presents an opportunity for brokers to bridge the gap by becoming more reliable partners and trusted advisors. Speakers emphasized the importance of improving communication with clients and stakeholders, investing in continuous professional development and simplifying insurance products to make them more accessible and easier to understand. Industry leaders were also encouraged to mentor and train their teams, nurturing the next generation of insurance professionals. A key takeaway for brokers was the need to strengthen collaboration with insurers by maintaining open dialogue, engaging in constructive negotiations and working together to address industry challenges. There was also a proposal to revive the Insurance Gala Awards as a platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding-performing insurers, motivating excellence across the sector. Above all, the event reinforced the importance of professionalism, continuous learning and upholding integrity as the foundation for building trust and advancing Uganda’s insurance industry.
