@symatt Yes, definitely. It works great for character driven stories, like Vampire. It allows you to explore stories that otherwise canβt, like a commander of an army or archmage. I believe it is not so good for action stories.
The tables in Worlds Without Number are so goooooood. Reliable. I turned to them to create a city-state in my homebrew sword and sorcery world. Now I have a city, ruled by a junta who overthrew a princess, but have now themselves splintered into 3 factions. Story hooks galore!
It's been 3 years since I last played Forbidden Lands. I'm pleased to see errata have fixed a lot of things and I'm excited to start a new campaign this weekend. I've been largely out of GMing for 6 months now due to emigration. Back in the saddle!
Finished a short 13th Age campaign set in Eberron. PCs were secret agents working for the Dark Lanterns. What a fun game! We wrapped it up after 5 sessions because 13th Age's pacing did not really work for an episodic campaign where each session is a new mission.
Starting a new campaign this week. 13th Age set in Eberron. PCs are secret government agents. It's going to be Mission Impossible with magical gadgets, incredible locations.
EZD6 one shot was a big success. I'll happily offer to run a campaign with this. The karma metacurrency is fun and makes players decide, "should I spend it and be awesome, or save it in case I need it" many times. Monsters are easy and play is very fast.
The first session of Root was really fun. Honestly the plot was pretty much the same as any D&D story, but felt +1 awesome because we were woodland creatures with swords. I don't have a lot of PBTA experience, and I should play it more.
@symatt Titanfall? A military space rpg. With mechs and vehicles, lots of guns. There is overlap with the Apex Legends video game also, which is set in the same universe.
I'm going to be playing Roots tomorrow. The pbta game of woodland animal heroes. I'm imagining a young fox with reckless ambition. And a green Robin Hood cap.
I bought EZD6 rpg yesterday. This looks a lot of fun! Rules lite, fast play. Iβm keen to run it, using some old school adventure. The game has no progression, so no scaling power. You can face a dragon in session 1. Of course, youβd likely die.
@StrahdVonZ Friend introduced the game, D&D Red Box. We bumbled through it together and learned as we played. The game included a choose-your-own-adventure tutorial booklet.
New Starforged campaign. The PCs are (1) an anarchist livestreamer who does crime (2) a cybernetic merc with a symbiote (3) a space pirate out to get even. Session 1 was brutal, starting with PCs in police custody being transported by skycar. Their escape has not gone well.
I am starting a new Starforged campaign this week. Iβm going for a cyberpunk vibe, with less planet hopping than usual. There is a Cybersworn hack which seems to have some good ideas. Eg replace the starship with a safehouse, and add a Heat mechanic.
