This is why we need to repeal the 16th Amendment, abolishing Income Tax completely.

Return to RETAIL ONLY sales taxes. (NO VAT TAX EVER, ANYWHERE, FOR ANY REASON, PERIOD!!)

Go further!
Abolish ALL forms of taxes except RETAIL ONLY sales taxes for federal, state AND local tax revenues. (e.g. Property tax is from the quill & parchment era. And property tax is just one more “hidden” tax hurting the poor most. That is, property tax is in the rent payment, it’s in the grocery bill. Neither is itemized, but they are definitely included.)

Keeping ANY form of income tax will just return us to where we are now. Including the “flat tax”. (e.g. this family is dealing with a special needs child and therefore needs a larger prebate.)

FULLY EXEMPT food, utilities, medical care & medicine so grandma won’t be sick & hungry as she freezes to death in winter. (Less dramatically: To protect us all from the “judgement” of politicians in both parties. (More accurately: In the Establishment UniParty.))

Require that every RETAIL sale MUST have a printed receipt that itemizes:
the total sale before tax;
each taxing authority that will receive funds;
the dollar amount of the tax paid to that tax entity;
the percentage of that entity’s tax receipt in proportion to the total RETAIL ONLY sale noted above;
add a Total Tax and Total Tax Percent line summing the taxes paid to all entities.

The TRUEST cost of government is on FULL display with each and every purchase each and every individual makes. (Every purchase becomes a “WTH!?!?” encounter with the cost of federal, state, and local, government.)

Paying taxes becomes “voluntary” in that you are NOT required to purchase anything. We must include that in the Amendment creating this structure: “No individual shall ever be compelled to make any retail purchase of any kind.”

That is also a natural “ceiling” on taxes imposed. Too much tax by ANY level of government? The item won’t sell!! And therefore NO tax revenue! (This is a MAJOR ***positive*** feature of this plan!)

Self absorbed politicians can still “encourage or discourage behaviors” by taxing or not taxing.
e.g. $20 on a pack of cigarettes
$15 on a six pack of Bud Light
30% on the purchase of a Ferrari.
1% on a Nissan Sentra
100% on tattoos
1% on underwear
2000% on anything clothing designed by a Hollywood celebrity.

Keep in mind the above are RETAIL ONLY sales!
You can sell your used car withOUT collecting taxes.

There is NO record keeping for “tax purposes” for individuals or corporations.

Tax record keeping for corporations and businesses down to the small card shop is greatly simplified!! Either the purchaser has a proper resale certificate in file or they don’t. The rest is in the point of sale system.
Easier audits of tax collections too!

Far harder to cheat!

Everyone pays!

Individuals & corporations can make decisions on the transaction ONLY and stop considering and worrying about “tax ramifications”.

Preachers can preach without worrying about losing their tax exempt status!

ALL of the above is FAR simpler than the current tax scheme.

AND it will loose productivity on a scale never seen before!

IMPORTANTLY IN THESE TIMES: People can pay cash and reclaim utter anonymity/privacy from government intrusions in their lives!!!
