@Linahuaa Who wants to live in a world where we only do things if it finally viable… inspiring his team so solve interesting challenges has spinoff benefits. Also this tech will find a use on the moon !
@elonmusk@bot
Thank you for creating Grok bot..
It’s actually doing a lot useful work in my business and home.
I’ve installed it on all my desktops and created a bot with special instructions for that environment so I don’t need to sit at a desk anymore.
Keep up the great work!
For the layman
• IRR is Internal Rate of Return, the annualised percentage return that equates the present value of cash inflows and outflows. Gross IRR is before fees and carried interest; net IRR is after them. Fund II’s 34.6% gross / 25.8% net is the standout figure in the table.
• TVPI is Total Value to Paid-In capital: the sum of remaining portfolio value plus cash already returned, divided by capital called from investors. A net TVPI of 3.2x on the cumulative row means roughly $3.20 of total value (realised plus unrealised) for every $1 paid in, after fees.
• DPI is Distributions to Paid-In capital: only the cash actually returned to investors, divided by capital paid in. Net DPI is the figure Chamath says “is all that matters” because it measures realised liquidity rather than paper gains. Cumulative net DPI is 2.7x; Fund II’s is 3.6x.
• GP and LP are General Partner (the fund manager, here Social Capital) and Limited Partner (the outside investors who supplied the capital).
• The Cambridge figures are quartile rankings against the Cambridge Associates venture-capital benchmark for the same vintage year. A ranking of 1 means top quartile. Carrying value is the remaining unrealised portfolio value (about $5 billion cumulative). Vintage is the year the fund began investing.
@thameswater typical service from Thames water. Searched your site to find out if there’s a pressure issue in my area. Saw nothing but clicked to report a problem only to find you don’t want to people to use the form and should use WhatsApp, only to find your WhatsApp is unavailable! No reports are convenient for your performance stats.
@fournier65@OcrazioCornPop The Hamilton system is being re implementation in the USA.. will they succeed depends on the next President you elect and how many of the people support understand what’s being done.
@Figure_robot Making progress .. well done, but don’t be scared to show the mistakes. Give it a really messy room and bed so we can see its thought process and the improvement over time. Thanks for the glimpse into the future.
The whole thing is theatre. Dario knows you can’t stop this. China won’t sign, and every state will train air-gapped anyway.
What he wants is protection and appeasement: look responsible, keep the frontier closed, make everyone else ask permission.
The only move that changes the board: Anthropic open-sources a model one generation back. Western firms standardise on that instead of Chinese weights, other open models get squeezed, and Anthropic has to stay ahead in public rather than hide behind government. NVIDIA ends up there anyway.
