After the trauma of chemo-radiotherapy-mastectomy, I did not think I’d be back at the institute that soon. Lutaaya, my big brother is facing tongue cancer head-on. We’re raising funds to help with treatment, medications, and the daily costs that come with fighting this.

Kabushenga’s Thoughts
The Power of Intentionality
This Thursday morning I visited @KiiraMotors at the invitation of the CEO, @PIMusasizi. I was there to attend the National e-Mobility Expo 2025. This is the only vehicle fabrication & assembly plant of its kind in Africa. They currently build 11 electric vehicles everyday & some hybrids. These are mainly buses but they have plans to start making SUVs. The campus is impressive & the equipment is top of the range. The best though is the team of young Ugandan professionals who have built this masterpiece. It is truly a national asset, a testament of what young people can do when trusted with public resources, a clear vision and a committed leadership. One such young professional is Vincent Muhumuza, an engineer who is part of the production process. He was my guide on the tour of the facility to explain what they do everyday to produce vehicles.
To get there, you drive 90kms east of Kampala, past Jinja town & head north on Kamuli Road. After 13km you turn right to the designated industrial park in Mutai. When you get there, it doesn’t feel anything like the country we are currently experiencing. When I entered, a panel of financial heavies was discussing financing for the future of innovation. They were not just talking about EVs, it was an articulation of how to find the future of scientific innovation. The expo & the venue was not just about cars. It was about how Uganda can go into a future of tech. The venue is a shining example of what that future looks like. Paul has set us on the right path. I hope no one gets in his way. We need this as a country.
After the panel discussion, Vincent took me around the campus explaining in detail each process & how the machinery works. It was not just his knowledge that was persuasive, it was his conviction in what they are doing that was convincing. These guys believe they are birthing our future. A contrast to the widespread despondency of this demographic about the lack of opportunity. What is driving them is a clear intention, a sense of purpose & a meaning to the work they do. It is more than just about the wages. It is fulfillment.
By the time I left, it was with a glimmer of hope. That we have a shot at a future in a world where those with a place in technology have a prayer. I couldn’t help making a recommendation. So I suggested to Paul that they need to have a residential facility where young people can stay & take advantage of this facility to build a wider ecosystem. I thought I was being clever. But the guys have already thought this through & are now looking for money to build a research & development facility. So I am late to the party. Let me now try elsewhere. In the political arena. I think the ICT ministry, the Science, Innovation & Technology docket should be merged into one with competent leadership. We shall head into the future with confidence.
Rwenzori Marathon Impact- Kiira motors
I always tell you Uganda simply lacks marketing and many of you don’t believe me.
I visited @KiiraMotors to discuss partnership with @RwenzoriMarathn 2025.
In my discussion, I recommended Kiira motors engages with @WasswaEmma_ and @Uganda_Expozed who visited them recently.
After visiting, they posted massively about Kiira motors and a friend in Mombasa saw the push by @WasswaEmma_ and @Uganda_Expozed
He calls me to ask more questions about the buses and how many kilometers and he says am flying to Uganda and I know where these buses can work.
He was interested in how long the battery charge would go and he said, am coming to negotiate 40 buses.
Even if he doesn’t buy them, it’s clearly the power of marketing. He will meet the MD soon.
What about if real efforts are invested? So much is on demand because @RwenzoriMarathn is happening this coming weekend.
