@TristinHopper Borden's war speech of August 17th, 1913 was one of the best,if not the best, of any start of WW1 speech. Laurier's "Aye, ready, aye" speech stands out. Just not at the center of things. Carney's Davos speech will go down as will Lousis St. Laurent's UN speech proposing NATO.

@jengerson Davos or not, Trump would be treating Canada the same way. He said that he wanted to annex Canada through economic pressure. What you are really saying is that USA fears middle powers aligning and cutting out the USA - USA should fear that - good. That's leverage.

@stoolpresidente Belgium was created as a neutral buffer state and its' neutrality was guaranteed by Germany, Britain, and France and Germany violated it twice. Belgium fought on the Entente side in WW1 with King Albert leading them. The Belgium government moved to London in WW2

@CraigBaird Denmark started it! They left schnapps and a note - "Welcome to Denmark". Canada retaliated with whiskey naturally. It is our land border with Europe, which USA doesn't have.
