Recruit the qualified applicants that were rejected, there are thousands of them. Give them signing bonuses, back pay, and settle the lawsuits that were filed in their favor. Aviation is a complex, nuanced, 24/7 commitment. There are no shortcuts, people either have what it takes, or they don’t. Also, please look into the blurring lines between commercial and private aviation, that’s a cause of recurring and dangerous issues as well.

Have you looked at the financial obligation students have to make to become engineers? We no longer have a merit-based system. If you want to pursue a good career, you have to be willing to be financially in-debt and unable to do anything but work to pay off the debt. Check out the interest rates on federal student loans, and who qualifies for aid. The system penalizes merit if you don’t fit a minority profile. Not to mention the drug and alcohol culture they get exposed to. Go through the CSS profile…with your experience it should tell you everything you need to know. It’s blatant
