@srush_nlp @zacharylipton certainly a similar flavor around the OpenAI/GPT-3 discourse re: "the scaling hypothesis" and "the bitter lesson". Manhattan Project budget would be ~30billion today, so perhaps we're still only at the Fermi/Szilard Pile-1 stage (~$50mm today)
