Is Gavin Newsom's Film Commissioner receiving kickbacks from a former communist eastern bloc country for outsourcing our biggest California productions to Budapest and building up their film industry while dismantling ours?

If you're curious why so many big Hollywood productions are in Budapest...Newsom's film commissioner is literally a national hero...in Hungary.

She was the former US Ambassador to Hungary, where she was given the nation's 2nd highest honor for economic development in HUNGARY.

The Dune series, Blade Runner, Black Widow...all these massive tentpole pictures inexplicably going to an easter European country, despite the producers and studios all residing in Los Angeles. She had zero connection to Hungary prior to becoming ambassador, and her appointment was heavily scrutinized at the time, because she was simply an Obama mega-donor; even NPR noticed that ambassador posts were seemingly being doled out as rewards for political donations.

20 years ago, there was no film industry in Hungary. Suddenly, all our biggest films are shooting there. Outsourcing production to Canada makes some sense...they're our closest neighbor. Outsourcing to the UK makes some sense...they have a rich legacy of legendary filmmakers from Kubrick to Ridley Scott to Christopher Nolan. But Hungary? Why the hell are we filming in Hungary? Oh yeah, the CA Film Commissioner was ambassador to Hungary.

Rooting for Hollywood to die is loserthink. The antidote for the woke fever dream that ruined movies for the last few years isn’t to just abandon and destroy film culture entirely…the answer is breaking the fever. Obsession, Project Hail Mary, Top Gun: Maverick…there have been some bangers emerging from the ashes that actually are winning big at the box office again. They don’t have an agenda, and are entertaining as hell. Their insane box office returns should remind all of us that not only is Hollywood still a highly valuable industry, but deep down, we ALL still want to go to the movies. We just want it to be like the good old days in the 90s when movies were just movies, not a UC Santa Cruz lecture.

Culture is America’s #1 global export, and Hollywood is the vanguard for popular culture. Period. Not only is it worth saving, it’s necessary. Not just for California, but for the entire country. We cannot root for California to fail…the success of our country relies on a strong, prosperous, and sane California. We need to nurture this place the way we’d nurture a family member going through a drug crisis. Stern, stable leadership, a full intervention to purge the addiction (to wokeness), and a committed effort to rehabilitate her.

I see people on the right saying "screw Hollywood" like they're scorned ex-girlfriends. And I see people on the left saying "screw the film tax credit" simply because it involves the President. All of you need to grow the fuck up. We are saving America, and that includes California. And California...that includes the President. Get on board or get out, losers.

Ludwig von Mises sat down in 1920 and published a paper that ended the intellectual case for socialism, even if the socialists took another seven decades to notice.

The argument was precise. Mises showed that without private ownership of the means of production, there are no real prices for capital goods. Without prices, you cannot calculate profit and loss. Without profit and loss, economic planners have no way of knowing whether they are creating value or destroying it. They are flying blind, spending real resources with no feedback mechanism telling them whether the factory, the railway, or the grain depot was worth building. Every allocation becomes a guess dressed up as a decree.

This, he called the Socialist Calculation Problem, and nobody answered it. Oskar Lange tried in 1936, proposing that socialist planners could simulate prices by trial and error. Mises read this and was unimpressed (charitably put). Lange assumed you could reproduce the function of market prices without the institution that generates them: private property, genuine exchange, real skin in the game. You cannot fake the signal and expect accurate information.

The Soviet Union spent seventy years proving Mises right. Chronic shortages, misallocated steel, surplus winter boots in Georgia in July, famine engineered by committees convinced they understood grain supply better than the price system. The USSR collapsed in 1991 under the weight of precisely the inefficiencies Mises predicted in Vienna in 1920.

You are watching this play out again today, every time a government sets energy prices, rent ceilings, or pharmaceutical price caps, and then expresses shock at the resulting shortages. The calculation problem did not expire with the Soviet Union. Bureaucrats who override price signals recreate the same blindness Mises identified. Mises told you exactly what would happen.

- Governor’s office sent them to California Health and Human Services

- That agency sent them to another agency)

Legally, they had up to 10 days to respond on disclosure, but that doesn’t stop them from not releasing it

- California filled a first extension under an unusual circumstances clause
- After 10 days, invoked a clause for another 14 days to decide on disclosure

This is already 24 days to even confirm they were disclosable

- They delayed again and promised copies in 3–4 weeks after that decision
- On the due date of July 3, the state requested another 2 weeks

- 56 days since the request, the state still is refusing to provided the executed contract, procurement packet, scope of work and bid scoring sheets

Again, this was all supposed to just be simply provided within a few days

Only one reason for this, massive fraud and money laundering
