Imagine working on something for such a long time and with that much passion and a few weeks before you are done, you are informed that the plan has changed (again ...) and that we actually no longer care about any of the things that we have told everybody for years.

It's really hard to put into words how disappointed and betrayed I felt after hearing this decision, especially in the absence of a possibility to even question or discuss it. It just felt so incredibly disrespectful and I will most probably never be able to see this as anything but a massive and completely unnecessary capitulation before the finishing line.

However, since I still feel a commitment to the community and my colleagues and because I don't want to harm the project, this will be the last and only time that I publicly ventilate and I will from now on try to focus on the positive aspects:

1. IOTA will finally be decentralized which puts an end to this unbelievable odyssey.
2. IOTA will finally have L1 SC's utilizing an object-based move (which is currently the best VM in the space).
3. IOTA will have a state of the art bft-style consensus.

So for anybody that didn't get interested in IOTA for it's vision, this might not even be such a bad thing (at least we forked the right tech).

I am trying to give this a chance and stay with IOTA but it will most probably take some time for me to fully regain my enthusiasm.

Right now it's time for others to take the stage and excite you and hopefully me as well with their new vision.

A final comment on the UAE:
8 months ago I came here to this beautiful country with no expectations other than to learn what was happening in Dubai and in Abu Dhabi.

After spending time here and working closely with regulators, large enterprises, government officials and key individuals, I can confidently say that the UAE is the best home for innovative new technologies and digital ecosystems like IOTA. The leadership of the UAE has a strong vision of the future and they have the foresight, deep understanding and willingness to support innovative new technologies. Instead of being held back, innovation is enabled to thrive.

There is no country like the UAE, and I am proud to call it home now. I am incredibly grateful to have met some of the most amazing, supportive and open people. Without them this wouldn't have been possible and I'm forever grateful for their support and to be able to call them friends.

Sitting down with the @IOTA 2.0 whitepaper, there's a sense of coming full circle. #IOTA began with a simple proposition: let's build a system where we all help keep the #Tangle wheels turning. The essence was pure collaboration, a bit like the Internet in its early days – organic and communal. I validate your transaction; you validate mine. It was a beautiful, yet complex #entangled dance of mutual support.

Now, #IOTA introduced this concept called #Mana. It's fascinating – not a coin or a token, but a kind of fuel for the entire collaborative process. It comes from active participation, almost as though you're earning trust as you help maintain the system. It's a throwback to the fundamentals of IOTA but matures the idea into something more tangible. Here's what resonated with me: it's all about contributing to the network's fabric. The more you put in, the more you're equipped to participate.

The idealist in me appreciates that there's no explicit need of trading this #Mana. Yet. It's about your long term actions within the network, not your temporary speculation interest. That strikes a chord. Sure, perhaps Mana could become another asset thrown around in the market someday, but right now, it feels like it's been created to serve a different purpose – to fuel the machinery of cooperation, not speculation.

Reflecting on it, #IOTA 2.0 feels like it’s quietly revolutionizing the game. It's building a mechanism where contributing is inherent to the system's growth and health. We're not just #mindlessly mining or paying fees; we're part of something. There's something empowering about a model that puts utility and collective action at the heart of its existence. That's a significant shift from some current narratives, and honestly, I find it refreshing. #DLT #IOTA #DigitalCooperation
