@SteveBresnen The idea that God is male, aside from basic chauvinism, finds textual support in, among other places, Christ's continuous use of "father" rather than "parent".
Granted, I think trying to assign gender to a deity is silly, but there's a clear indication of gender in the text.
@HedgeDirty ... No, that would just be another rule.
Would it be kind of a bullshit rule? Sure. But it's still be a rules-based liberal system.
"Muh wealth tax" isn't a breakdown of the rules. Smashing someone's kneecaps and stealing their shit is.
@questionableway Honestly, the sheer resilience of the United States has been the most surprising part of the last decade. I thought the wheels would have come off in 2018 at the latest, yet here we still are, bleeding on the carpet and being a nuisance
@KaixaStan Which immediately sparked a massive riot with tremendous amounts of property destruction
Also he's a pirate. He's hardly innocent of theft; he looted Skypiea down to the studs (or thought he did, at least)
@kyomu_utsuro You'll find that the most learned disciples of every religion tend to get along quite well. It's the fervent idiots that cause all the problems
@kyomu_utsuro The funny thing is, we also have thousands of years of scholar-monks who spent their lives on logically analyzing theology, breaking down even the most cherished dogma.
It's just that those monks make shitty missionaries. Except maybe the Jesuits
@tale_hw Through the ongoing process of action and reaction, imposition and resistance, the desires of the few and the many are balanced and negotiated. There are no kings, and there are no slaves. All things come into accord, and liberty is maximized.
In theory, anyway.
@tale_hw The net outcome of this is that it is entirely possible for governments and corporations to violate the social contract, and such actions are inherently illegitimate. Resisting those actions is, therefore, moral, and arguably a moral necessity, for the good of society as a whole.
@wildwilly888 Yes, there is a meaningful difference between digital goods that can be copied endlessly, and physical goods that exist as discreet entities. I'm not sure why this is confusing for you.
@FilmRader Someone who literally just fired a round from a tank is not "minding his own business". He has, at minimum, significantly interfered with the business of someone else. Turnabout is fair play.
@Kaorumitsurugi The survivors folded into the Imperial aristocracy, the droids were remotely shut down, the spectre of alien rebellion used to justify the imperial human-supremacist policies. The CIS was designed from the ground up to be packed away when the clone wars were over.
@Kaorumitsurugi They explicitly used droids because of a lack of popular support and manpower, and were functionally a burgois rebellion that was run by Palpatine as controlled opposition. And Anakin killed the leadership on Mustafar
@QuadratiusZizo Forces Araki to actually come up with creative ways to resolve fights, instead of just punching harder. Usually.
It's also forced him to write in a healer in every part once he realized how much more he could do if the guys get torn to shreds
@QuadratiusZizo The simple caveat that stand injuries transfer to the users is responsible for a good chunk of what makes Jojo great, because the users are just... Guys. Tough guys, but ultimately just fragile humans
