Each time Alberta has established an Electoral Boundaries Commission to redraw election maps the government has accepted the commission’s majority report, so I was surprised and disappointed to learn that a committee of MLAs has instead been tasked with creating a new map. /1
@ryanjespersen Not to mention that hospitals are a place for healing, which removing the SCS pushes those that need the resource back out onto the street - the opposite of what is needed for healing.
@PfParks I had not realized… and then I listened to the CBC at noon today, guests and call-ins talking about worst experiences in ERs… this is totally nuts. As they say - our health care system is not broken… it is being dismantled. With intent, and people will die.
Join @hughseaton and @SpecwriterKeith tomorrow as they present the results of a months-long study with major construction industry partners and specialty contractors to outline the state of MEP specs, who's using them, and how they engage with them. https://t.co/ukAiDNjuWF
I wasn't going to post about the invites I received to the UCP's vaccine misinformation jamboree.
But since MLA Bouchard's invite was little more than a dog whistle (see below👇) and ideological theatre, here is how I responded:
"Dear Mr. Bouchard,
I am, as you know, deeply disappointed that this event is occurring and has the support of the UCP. In this age of harmful misinformation, the government should strive to support science-informed analysis and public policy.
Unfortunately, this event appears to be focused on legitimizing harmful and demonstrably false claims about vaccines. Given the list of presenters – and the title, which implies a conclusion – this is not about examining the relevant body of evidence, open dialogue, and/or constructive debate on serious science issues. It is the propagation of false balance & fearmongering bothsidesism.
Also, several of the participants have regularly defamed me, questioned my integrity, spread lies about me and my work, and have called for my imprisonment.
So, no. Not attending."

@carriemae68@drdagly To be fair, we get reminders in Alberta - but they come from our pharmacist. That approach is successful to those who are previously vaccinated, but does not increase the numbers of people that should be getting vaccinated. Our current government will have a lot to answer for…
@BennettBuild It’s funny that people know when they see a concrete article - they see our names and associate our name with insightful content on concrete. Seeing a lot of positive feedback on this issue.
@AndrewKnack@JasonNixonAB Thanks for the well written summary. When I heard Nixon’s rebuttal on the news this morning, it sounded like a personal attack - nothing to do with politics. The string of posts explains the situation faced by City Council accurately.
A few thoughts from Minister @JasonNixonAB’s press conference earlier today. Let’s start with the great news: there will be $10 million dollars to 87 housing providers throughout the province will help with utilities, staffing, supplies and other operating costs. #ableg#abpoli

Daily, I receive comments that range from disparaging to downright vile. Since Oct, my tweets can attract thousands of trolls (real people) and bots (not real). 🧵
