@leftturncult@kdon116 I'm just saying the race had more guaranteed importance when it was one race for all the marbles. I do like the 10-race format better, just not for that last race.
@leftturncult@kdon116 I lost a little interest when they switched to the 10-race chase. When it was going to be the true 1-race championship race there, I was absolutely planning to attend. Now, it could be decided before they even get there!
Takeaway:
Nashville has consistently rewarded cars with strong long-run pace, but late cautions and track position swings have repeatedly reshaped the finishing order.
The box score rarely tells the full story here.
NEW: Weekly Track Review Threads 🧵
Each race week, we’ll look back at the last few Cup races at the upcoming track:
🏁 Elite Pace
⚡ Better Than the Finish
🔧 Compromised Days
👀 Sneaky Strong
The goal is simple:
Refresh the memory and help set a baseline expectation for the weekend.
Starting with Nashville:
2023 Nashville Review:
🏁 Elite Pace:
• Ross Chastain — Broke through for his first win of the season after showing front-running speed throughout the night.
• Martin Truex Jr. — One of the strongest long-run cars and a major factor for most of the race.
⚡ Better Than the Finish:
• Tyler Reddick — Had top-tier speed and led laps, but the final result undersold how competitive the car really was.
• Denny Hamlin — Consistently near the front with strong pace before fading late relative to the leaders.
🔧 Compromised Days:
• William Byron — Fast enough to contend, but pit road and track-position swings kept the team from fully capitalizing.
👀 Sneaky Strong:
• Corey LaJoie — Quietly put together one of the more respectable runs among smaller teams.
• Ricky Stenhouse Jr. — Showed better pace than expected relative to equipment level.
And last but not least… the Five-Figs Club.
Members who ship $10k+ on a single DFS lineup or betting slip will receive a custom engraved leather koozie to commemorate the win.
Small compared to the 💯 Club maybe… but still life-changing money for a lot of people.

Auto-Advancing Drivers that DNF in Segment 1 or 2 will be scored no worse than 26th, this was not my initial interpretation (in the screenshots above), but will be updated and reflected in future simulations.
The 2026 All-Star Race format is wild enough that I had to build a completely custom simulation process just for this event.
Inversions.
Unexpected segment leaders.
Auto advancements.
Average segment-finish advancements.
Fan vote advancements.
Eliminations.
Chaos.
Honestly, this has been a fun challenge.
