Happy 10th birthday to BITCOINISTCD 🥳
Minted on 25 October 2016, it was made for Bitcoinist, one of the early crypto news outlets.
Its card text still reads: "The crystal journalists roam Askian's land from the cold north to the tropical south to report about illegal and deceiving businesses."
Ten years later, the job has not changed.
Which 2016 card are you still holding?
Spells of Genesis issued ETHEREUMCARD on 24 June 2015, in the same block as the card of Counterparty itself. Ethereum went live 36 days later.

I started building the world of Moonga when I was 17.
Ten years of @SpellsofGenesis only showed a corner of it. The Askian Valley, Emperor Daryen, the tribes and guilds: there is far more lore than the game ever let you walk through.
So I am trying something. A Velocimon × Spells of Genesis crossover, set in Durstor.
The clip is a small spoiler of an adventure there. Iconic places, iconic characters, and you crossing the world instead of only fighting in it.
No promises. This is an experiment, and whether it goes further depends on what you tell me.
If you played #SoG: which place or character from Moonga would you want to meet first?

BITCOINCOMCD turned ten this week 🎂
On 3 October 2016 we issued it as a Spells of Genesis partner card, made with bitcoindotcom.
It is worth remembering what that moment looked like.
bitcoindotcom was one of the largest sites in the space, run by Roger Ver. Bitcoin Cash did not exist. The scaling argument was loud, but there was still one Bitcoin, and a card issued with bitcoindotcom was simply a card issued with a big Bitcoin site.
Ten months later the chain split, and the name itself became contested.
The card was made before all of that. 600 issued, on Counterparty, on Bitcoin. 156 addresses still hold one.
It is a piece of a world that no longer exists, and it is still exactly where we put it.
Still holding yours?
I got hacked at 3:59 AM without clicking anything. My voicemail handed the attacker my Telegram login code.
Here is exactly how it worked, so it doesn't happen to you.
3:54 AM. My phone rings about ten times in a row, No Caller ID. That was not harassment. It was the attack: keep my line busy.
Meanwhile, the attacker asks Telegram to log in with my number and picks "send the code by phone call". My line is busy, so Telegram's robot call lands on my voicemail and reads the code out loud to it.
Carrier voicemail can often be reached remotely, with a default PIN or a spoofed caller ID. He listens to the message. At 3:59 he is in.
Fortunately, the attack was noisy. The calls woke me up. At 4 AM I only wanted to go back to sleep, but I had the presence of mind to check my notifications. Telegram was showing a new login from a device I didn't know. That check is what saved me: I ended his session within minutes. If I had rolled over, the next day would have been a mess.
In those few minutes he had already typed /balance, then /start on every old wallet bot he could find in my chats. He was hunting for funds tied to my Telegram. The bots were long dead and nothing was lost. He still had time to set his own 2FA password on my account.
What would have stopped it:
Telegram two-step verification, with a recovery email. With a password on the account, the code alone is useless.
Your voicemail. Change the PIN, block remote access, or turn it off (##002# cancels call forwarding on most carriers).
Same for WhatsApp and any service that can send a code by voice call.
No seeds, keys or passwords in Saved Messages. Ever.
A burst of masked calls at night is a signal, not a nuisance. Check your notifications and your active sessions.
I have been building in crypto for more than ten years and I had never thought about my voicemail. Check yours today.
Ten years of Spells of Genesis. Fifteen years watching mobile and web games rise and die.
I think we finally have the thing.
Velocimon: a simple game, one RPG mechanic I have not seen anywhere else, tokenomics built from everything we learned the hard way, and agents inside the game rather than behind it. In 2015 we put a game on Bitcoin before anyone thought that was a game. This is the same kind of bet, on what players can create when agents are part of the world.
Someone in telegram said "2016 again". That is exactly the feeling I have, and I did not expect to have it twice.
Here is the honest part.
Being right early is what we are good at. Blockchain, real ownership, agents: we were there before the wave each time. Reaching beyond the people who already know us is the thing we have never solved. Our circle is small and it is loyal, and I would like to stop treating that as the whole world.
So I am asking you, before I go deeper: what actually works today to reach further than your own circle?
And if you want to follow this one, say so here. I would rather know now than after another six months of building quietly.

Spells of Genesis issued every card in the Spells of Genesis collection.
Except one.
It was made for Augmentor, a project we brought into the game.
Augmentor is gone. The card is still here, and still part of the collection.
That is what putting a card on Bitcoin was for: it outlives whoever made it.
Anyone still holding it?
