@lindseyleavitt Showed up to a panel. Introduced myself to a fellow panelist. He leaned in, lowered his voice, and said, “I hear there’s some hokey sci-fi writer or something joining us today.” I said, “Oh, it’s worse than that. He actually writes children’s horror. Also, he’s me.”
This week I helped perform surgery on a wolf after her tail and back got infected by worms. She barely survived. The amount of pus we remove everyday could fill a bucket. She’s regaining strength and health rapidly though. Life takes strange turns.
I checked a bag at the airport earlier today and the lady asked me if I had any “flammables or hazardous materials.” I told her I had both in the form of a lot of books. She laughed.

Tonight I couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of a specific word. But I did remember exactly where it was written in a book I read back in middle school. So I hunted down that book and, sure enough, there it was, still there 15 years later.
The other day I mentioned something I bought in London and said ‘quid.’ Immediately, all my friends started making fun of me for using a made-up “Harry Potter currency.” Then they started drilling into me about the plural usage of ‘quid.’
Galleons, sickles, knots - no quid.
“But, reader, there is no comfort in the word ‘farewell,’ even if you say it in French. ‘Farewell’ is a word that,in any language, is full of sorrow. It is a word that promises absolutely nothing.”
-The Tale of Despereaux
A common question I get asked about writing: "How much revising do you do?" On the left: A stack of the various drafts of my first book, OUT TO GET YOU. On the right: A stack of the various drafts of my second book, ONLY IF YOU DARE. #amwriting
@DanielBGreene An extract from an interview where the interviewer dismisses fantasy... to Terry Pratchett.
Needles to say he wasn't impressed, but of course he produces the most eloquent, detailed defense of the genre you've ever seen.

Update Day XXXII- Wrote 1,124 words today. It came very close several times, but I don’t owe anyone pizza! I still have probably about 15k more words left to finish up this draft, but I’m extremely happy with the progress I’ve made. Thank you everyone for the encouragement!
Starting May 1st until June 1st, I will be writing a quota of 1,000 words daily before midnight Alaska time. If I break this quota and fail to deliver, every person who likes this Tweet before the failed date will be sent a pizza by me. I’ll keep y’all updated daily.
