The SPD is issuing this release to remind owners to consider this ordinance when they decide to allow someone to drive their vehicle. The penalties are applicable whether or not the owner is in the vehicle at the time of the offense.

🚨NEW TOW ORDINANCE IN EFFECT🚨

The SPD has seen a rise in the number of drivers fleeing from officers when they are attempting to conduct a traffic stop. These incidents can be dangerous, not only for the officers, but also for other motorists and bystanders in the area.

This means if the vehicle is loaned to any individual and that individual flees the scene from an officer; it is the owner’s responsibility of paying all vehicle fines and fees.

Hadley is currently at the Sangamon County Jail, his bond was set at $300,000.

NARCOTICS AND FIREARMS ARREST
On May 6, 2021, members of the SPD Proactive Crime Unit and Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant at 6 Regency Court. The following items were recovered during the search of the residence:

Vincent J. Hadley (male, 32 y/o) was taken into custody and arrested on 2 warrants, delivery of cannabis, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, armed violence, possession of a stolen firearm, and resisting a police officer.

McClain is in custody at the Sangamon County Jail, his bond was set at $250,000.

FIREARMS ARREST
On May 1st, 2021, at approximately 8:36 p.m., members of the SPD Street Crimes Unit received information regarding a subject illegally possessing a firearm.

Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright charged McClain with unlawful possession of a weapon by a street gang member, unlawful possession of a weapon by felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting a peace officer.

The City of Springfield, Illinois is actively recruiting Police Patrol Officers with experience. New this year, the lateral application will be open on an ongoing basis, meaning experienced officers can apply any time online throughout the year.

Candidates cannot be older than 34 years of age, or must fall within the “Age Exemption” requirements. Officers can qualify under the eighteen to thirty six month or the thirty six month and beyond employment requirement as a full-time Police Patrol Officer.
