Disability is unique in the sense that at any time, you or someone you love can become disabled and quickly learn how broken systems are that are vital for those affected. Be patient and listen to those who are disabled. We need more kindness in the world.
The current state of the industry can cause knee-jerk reactions which, in the long term / some cases, could prove detrimental.
Be cautious. Think wisely. Act accordingly.
And if in doubt: speak to your Agent / Manager / Equity / any Industry Professionals you trust.
If you have to be in the booth during this heatwave, please advocate for your safety in sessions. Ample breaks, being hydrated, and airing out the space is vital. It worries me when people thank me for allowing them breaks in this heat/at all when I’m directing them! Stay safe.
✨ANOTHER REMINDER✨
If your voice acting work is slow right now (seems to be for a lot of people) take this time to do some of your favorite hobbies or spend time with people you enjoy being around.
You can also use this time to update your website, resume, demos, etc.!
So. Consent is required for AI usage, but:
1. There is no real job stabilization if an actor declines to consent to AI usage
2. No real protections against using our data for training databases
3. Would only be paid that day's work per producer's insight? In perpetuity usage?
🫠
It’s concerning and disappointing to see such a lack of AI protections being outlined in the SAG deal. This may long term affect many, and it simply isn’t protecting actors the way we need in light of new tech that wants to replace us. We need clear precedent now. #SagAftraVoteNo
SO…can we all agree? The incredibly unrealistic, out of touch, unattainable, high pressure standard we’re holding ourselves to is indeed..made up, not real and hindering us from being our truest, most authentic selves. Take where it applies
I’m not ashamed of my disability, but having to explain to 3 businesses that I am disabled and having them say things like, “what’s wrong with you?” is just so rude and uncomfortable. And no, all disabled people aren’t in wheelchairs and I don’t have to explain it in detail.
If you've been watching your "favorite" brands shrink and hide in the face of queer hate, consider supporting a queer, Black, fat woman who's in the trenches queer round, who stands up against injustice and hate without hesitation, and lives by the same values you hold dear.
Normalize gift registries just cause.
As a human who never gets ask what they want as gifts until the 11th hour, I have a funny spreadsheet with links.
