This all makes sense for Trey because the Bengals wouldn't guarantee that second year money.

So he got them to give him a raise and basically guarantee this year's salary.

Signing the extensions they offered only gave him this year guaranteed anyway.

That said, the numbers likely make it difficult for Cincinnati to use the franchise tag regardless. So Hendrickson is expected to be a FA in 2026.
