This side of football that doesn’t get enough airtime ❤️
I recently came across this video of Brent Stevens making his professional debut for Jong Genk just days after his father passed away.
Before kick-off there was a moment of silence in his dad’s honour, and then he stepped between the posts against RFC Liège.
Late in the game, the 21-year-old somehow kept his cool to save a penalty, and the home fans cheered him on 🥹
In a sport so often defined by rivalry and results, that kind of respect and empathy genuinely sticks with you.
Players are people first - carrying their own stories onto the pitch - and that sometimes sport can bring out the best in us.
That’s the beautiful game in it’s prime. Huge respect to RFC Liège fans 👏
