I actually think the key for Punk was Janel Grant. Without Grant, Vince is in charge of WWE. Nick Khan didn't care about Punk's past and would have brought him in whether there was an AEW or not. Cody, without question, had he stayed in WWE, he'd have never become anywhere near the star he became. It's a lesson so many stagnated wrestlers miss because of being taught leaving is bad.
