Strikes on Russia’s oil industry must not be stopped under any, any, any circumstances.

Donald Trump, with his deranged attempts to save himself from a crushing electoral defeat and his desire to appease his idol in the Kremlin, will come and go very quickly.

But the Kremlin will use that time to patch up its battered oil refineries, and Ukraine will have to continue shedding blood and fighting its war machine fueled by petrodollars.

This puts it all in perspective. Putin’s “gift” to Trump is the equivalent of 14-15 hours of US diesel demand.

One other thought is that Russia has such a severe diesel shortage that it’s unlikely Putin even has the ability to follow through.

The Drone Is No Longer the Weapon. The Network Is.

Russia may be turning the Shahed from a flying bomb into something more important: a node in an airborne network.

Ukraine’s Air Force says Russian drones are now being linked through mesh communications, allowing one aircraft to scout, another to strike, and others to relay video and control signals back towards an operator. If one link is jammed or destroyed, the network can route around it.

That changes the problem for air defence. Ukraine is no longer merely hunting individual drones. It may have to identify which aircraft are carrying the network itself.

The most interesting piece is Belarus. Ukrainian officials say ground repeaters there can extend live control deep into Ukraine, effectively turning telecommunications infrastructure across the border into a virtual forward airbase.

The next phase of drone warfare may therefore be less about better explosives than better connectivity. Destroying the drone matters. Finding the invisible network connecting the drones may matter more.
