My personal Game of the Year is Farewell North.

It gave me some intense catharsis after losing my Mum, a game where you play as a Border Collie helping your person deal with their own loss and grief.

Made by solo dev @kylewbanks, it’s a tear-jerker, and utterly gorgeous.
