An incredible honour to have won this #AtlanticAward! Thank you to the #ASPC2018, to @EASME and @EU_MARE for the support and all the partners involved. Good job!
3rd Atlantic Project Award (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) goes to #EMFF powered @SpillessProject. Their solution uses native organisms to degrade one of the most damaging sources of maritime pollution: oil spills. Congratulations! #ASPC2018
The work of the researcher Fátima Carvalho from CIIMAR reveals an important discovery of compounds produced by actinobacteria that inhabit the brown algae that can have antibiotic or anticancer applications.

#SpilLess has received considerable media coverage both in national and international media outlets!
Over 20 interviews and news reports were made during the project, where it was possible to showcase its current status of development, objectives and main outputs.
#SpilLess field tests in Coruña are undergoing right now, with @CiimarUp, @INESCTEC and #ACSM!
An opportunity to see our "army" of robots working in sync on the combat of a virtual oil spill.
The final tests have begun!
During this week numerous field tests are being done in Portugal and Spain in a quasi-real oil spill scenario, allowing us to showcase the full potential of the #SpilLess technology. Stay tuned for more info soon!
Save the date!
The final workshop of #SpilLess will take place on March 27 at @CiimarUp. Come join us and let us show you what we have achieved by joining #biotechnology with #robotics to combat oil spills.
The workshop of the project @SpillessProject will take place on March 27, Wednesday, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at CIIMAR's headquarters.
The workshop is free of charge but the registration is mandatory and can be done on our website: https://t.co/Ovb6Fq6mJ4

@SpillessProject or how to implement an innovative and environment-friendly solution to tackle one of the most damaging sources of maritime pollution: oil spills.
Have a look at the solutions they offer ! https://t.co/a3rKbriVVF @INESCTEC@EU_MARE@EU_EASME
@eellogic Not at the momemnt, but in a near future these equipments may be deployed for the combat of scenarios similar to #GrandeAmerica. Very sad news, nonetheless!
From drones to automated submarines, #SpilLess has it all!
Three autonomous vehicles (aerial, surface and submarine), as well as a microbial launcher, were designed and adapted by @INESCTEC to enable an integrated and effective combat to oil spills, even in rough conditions!
There is no planet B.
Implementing sustainable development principles can help us live well within the limits of our planet, fight inequalities, and drive green growth.
Europe can and should lead the way.

#SpilLess organized 52 sampling campaigns in Portugal and Spain, including coastal and offshore sites.
In these campaigns, team members were responsible to collect seawater to perform biodegradation experiments and to isolate bacteria, but also to collect various data on-site.
@AceSkene@MartaSsFerreira Hi @AceSkene, thanks for the valuable input! Not only these strains are easy to grow and showcase great oil-degrading performances, but they also are 100% safe both in terms of pathogenicity and AMR potential. We are commited on only using friendly bacteria to combat oil spills!
Remember the bacteria we showed you last week? Four of these #SpilLess strains are being used as model microorganisms for the development of a bacterial formulation to tackle oil spills. Hopefully they'll serve as the basis for an innovative bioremediation product very soon!
These specific bacterial strains were selected as model microorganisms, due to their unusual capacity to biodegrade petroleum and some of its derivatives and also because they can generate high amounts of biomass very quickly!
#SpilLess is ending so for the next few weeks we will be showcasing what has been achieved with this project. For the first entry we want to show you the key elements of the whole project: the bacteria.
We isolated ca. 870 bacteria ready to be used in the combat of oil spills!
Senior researchers from #SpilLess are embarking on a novel scientific adventure: combating marine litter!
Stay tunned for more news very soon. @SCSRamos@CiimarUp#NetTag
After a much deserved break, #SpilLess is back with new updates and to wish you an amazing 2019, full of friendly bacteria and hopefully without any oil spills!
We kick-off this amazing year with a new TV interview about #SpilLess (starts @ 17:13): https://t.co/CBkYbpy0Ak
